Projects by nüans (Anna Heidenhain, Elmar Hermann, Maki Umehara)

A talk event was held at the project space nüans (Düsseldorf, Germany, 2006), where nüans' idea along with German artists' intentions was presented. Since then artist collective nüans pursues a conceptual approach that is the cornerstone of the projects. Nüans does not try to represent the same way as individual works by each of nüans/ members. The framewok of projects by nüans as follows:
《Concept and text will be highlighted. Other artists will be invited. nüans presents artwork by the other artists to exlplore artistic pursuits together in an exhibition (or in a project). The projects will be formed by using concept much rather than material.》Thus, while working together with artists, nüans had been exploring curatorial projects as well as collaborative works.

The following is what Umehara described regarding a plan of art project.
In order to improve her artistic ability and experience further, Maki Umehara intends to explore works in public space, private space, and different contexts including extraordinary places.
More specifically, support for her stay in Germany, a studio of the artist, etc. were required to work and exhibit within the precincts of the Kunstakademie and art institutions; and moreover, to realize experimental projects after her graduation from Kunstakademie in Germany. However, she described nothing about collaboration with German artists after graduation. In the process of the realization, she began to work with two further German artists, and that was the starting point of nüans´ project. In fact, without support by art institutions in the following page, nüans could not realize the projects such as the exhibition "The Fit" (curated by M. H. Shamberg, nüans), and so on.
