Bags
1999/2000, approx. 50 × 30× H. 40 cm, each (Bag #1-10)
Resin, video, photographs, dimensions variable
Documentary / transport: Pittsburgh Airport, USA - Nagoya Airport, Japan (2000 Nagoya - Düsseldorf, Germany)
Regarding the concept of the work, a part of installation in the exhibition had been slightly changed every day. Carnegie Mellon University, Ellis Gallery, Pittsburgh; Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art / Zone Gallery, Nagoya, Japan
Reflecting on my approach, it seems important to note that I brought the works "Bags" to different places where the paths of people from various countries intersect. At public transportation, airport, bus, teeming with passengers, each with their own subjective experience of time, language and nationality, seems to question the space and passenger’s identity.
